Middle School Challenge Ski Race

Attention Middle School skiers and racers: 

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Febuary 27, 2018 and plan on racing in the 16th annual Cuthy Cup, a ski race in honor of Al Cuthrell, the past ski team coach at Andover High School and Michigan’s longest serving high school ski coach.  The mission of this event is to promote the sport of ski racing as Coach Cuthrell has done for many seasons, particularly to the middle school skier


The Southeast Michigan Ski League (SEMSL) is hosting this middle school race. This race is open to 5th – 8th Grade students who have the need to go fast, or who just like to cruise in the gates. This is a great opportunity for any middle school skier to participate in a fun race, and to meet many of the SEMSL High School coaches who will be working this race.


Race Registration Information: 

Please pre- register on the Vertical Drop website and click on the Cuthy Cup logo.  You may also register on race night, inside the lodge at the ski school desk. All competitors please check in at the registration area beginning at 5:30 pm. Registration will close at 6:00pm. Race will begin at 6:30pm.


 $10.00 race entry fee (Pre-Register On-Line - Save 33%)

$15.00 on Race Day- Cash or Check Only

Discount Lift Tickets:  – For all participating athletes 

Purchase tickets at the registration area near the ski school

Race Courses:  The entire race will be conducted on Pine Knob race area. You will get (2) GS runs on skiers Left, and (2) GS runs on skier’s right. 

Your best run from each course will then be combined for total score. 

Timing System:  Alge Sport Timing / Nastar Scoring Systems / No Handicap



Awards will be held outside on the patio of the main lodge after the pizza party. Awards will be presented to the top (10) in each age group, Grades 5-8.
